Für gmail als Mailanbieter habe ich mich wegen der Zuverlässigkeit entschieden. „Wo Internet is, is google, wa.“

Stimmt nich. Gmail is seit heute morgen kaputt.
Davon betroffen sind wohl alle Zugänge. Http, und auch IMAP.

Hilfe!! Mein Phone nervt mich mit Endlosabfragen nach Username und Passwort für meinen gmail-Account!

…und meine Uni-Addy geht auch nicht. Arbeitet sicher auch mit google

Nachdem Zattoo mich enttäuscht hat, habe ich ein neues Spielzeug entdeckt:
wilmaa. Klasse, dass. Gestreamt werden die meisten der in Deutschland empfangbaren Frei-TV-Programme in annehmbarer Qualität, 24 Stunden am Tag im Web per Flash-Stream. Lediglich Phoenix und die dritten fehlen mir zum Glück. Der Anbieter sitzt mal wieder in der Schweiz- ich wünsche ihm viel Erfolg

Seit drei Wochen leitet mich der Aufruf meiner iGoogle-HTML-Seite über den nativen Symbian-Client und OperaMini auf die mobile-Version um. Nach einigen Minuten Web-Rechereche habe ich zumindest herausgefunden, dass ich mit den iPhone-Nutzeren in einem Boot sitze- bzw. die iPhone-User bisher eine besondere iGoogle-Seite hatten- Ich wünschr mir allerdings nur, dass die auf meinem Symbian-Phone hingegen aussehen soll, wie auf Standard-Desktop-Browsern. Das wird doch möglich sein, liebe Googols!

Dadurch schöpfe ich Hopfnung auf eine Lösung- wie kann es Google wagen, uns einfach auf die mobile iGoogle-Seite wieterzuleiten?? Minimal-Grafik, hallo? „Klicken Sie hier, um die nächste Seite anzuzeigen“- hallo!?

Also, bitte richtet ein Flag ein, so wie „#nomobile“ oder so. Mein Display ist groß genug.

Lastfm ist zum one-stop shop für wasauchimmermukke für mich geworden.

Schade, dass es immer mehr Titel gibt, für die ich bereit wäre, ein paar Pence zu zahlen, aber dann…

Yeah, after more or less two months using the E71, I am rather disappointed.

I have had several re-install round-ups, and none of them „cured“ the multiple failures. I even let the guys at Nokia Service Center fix it, but they did not do anything.

What are the main pronblems?

1. DUST!! There are loads of dust particles under the screen- in multiple layers. Especially in sunlight, this is very annoying. Furthermore, the rubber parts at the side look used, ugly and have a „red“ touch- guess this all comes from the „protective“ case Nokia supplied, since many red particles flying around when I get the phone out of it.

2. The „shiny“ reflecting screen- WHO the HELL at Nokia got the idea that a shiny, reflecting screen should be used for a BUSINESS MOBILE PHONE? In direct sunlight, it is very hard to read the display, as it is reflecting the sunlight. Even in other light, it merely works like a mirror, known from these crappy consumer notebooks screens who are more „mirror“ than displays.

3. The BATTERY consumption is WAY HIGHER than the one of the E61. My battery is empty regularly at the end of the day, and if I am unlucky, even before noon after a fresh charging over night. Especially when using the wireless functions of the phone, you can virtually „watch“ the battery bar going to zero in front of you.

4. Wireless issues: I am *VERY* disappointed that I can’t connect to my university’s WPA2-secured network over CHAP. Several N95-users have the same issues- hence the N95 is way older than the E71, and E71 is sold as a BUSINESS PHONE, it should be possible to connect, huh?
Furthermore, connecting to Ad-Hoc networks is even more buggy than with it’s predecessor, the E61. The phone consumes loads of power, and automatic email-retrieval and being connected to my VoIP-provider just makes no sense, since the battery will be empty within an hour or two. Also I suffer regular crashs and phone restarts in the middle of a VoIP-call or surfing the web when using my Ad-Hoc-connection. It’s just very unreliable.

5. The built-in Email-function is still a bad joke- just as the E61’s. They sell it as „THE“ email phone. Just, if you handle a HUGE mailbox with some hundred mails in it, it is impossible to manage it -just downloading the headers of course- from your phone, since the phone will lock regularly and it will be left messed up, since the old emails blocking your memory, while you are not able to „delete“ the mailbox.

All the service center did, while I gave them these notes, was re-installing the (now outdated) old firmware. Do I need to emphasize that after I re-entered my networks settings, the authentication over CHAP STILL does not work and my phone STILL RESTARTS quite often, when connected to Ad-Hoc network?

To the dust issue: they say they can’t clean it, they have to send it in to Finland to do that. Great- what should I do for a couple of weeks without my phone?

Yesterday, I got the news that Nokia releases a cheaper version of the E71, the E63, which costs merely 200 Euro before tax. Looking at the pictures, the E63 looks a lot more massive and stable built than the E71. I feel that’s just a bad joke and I am the victim.

Oh, maybe that’s just another story of the hassles you suffer being an „early adopter“

Thanks for your replies to my poll couple of days ago. I ignored the mainstream who advised me to get the dark one and ordered a tiny and shiny white steel Nokia E71, which I got yesterday.

And I must say: wow!! OK, on the pictures it looked more polished, but it’s not about the outer appearance here, it’s all about the inner beauty!!

And, what can I say, it’s beautiful! Loads faster than the Nokia E61, lots of minor improvements, but still the little twists and fun of the Symbian OS. I simply love this phone! Nokia managed to ship it with a nice white and red leather case and ear plugs, as well as a lanyard and 2GB micro SD – which needs a replacement ASAP

I experienced no big issues yet, it’s working more stable than the previous Symbian OS-powered phones. And I wonder how well I can use the tiny QWERTY-keyboard thanks to a very neat and precise built.

OK, before this turns out to be a commercial, just one rant: OPERA MINI!! I used to love it on my E61, which made it the best web-browsing machine I ever knew. On the E71 it’s different: Opera Mini does not recognize certain keys, like the backspace key, and there is an issue with the fonts, which are rendered too big.
I posted this on the operamini forum, hopefully someone can recommend me which font to use:

If it’s not possible, please work on the small fonts to make it „usable“

Eigentlich ist die Entscheidung schon gefallen: go!!
Ich will/muss/darf mir ein neues Mobile kaufen. Grund: mein altes ist schon wieder verschranzt, der Speicher reicht hinten und vorne nicht, und ausserdem brauche ich auch n’ neues Radio und ne neue Digicam. Verstanden?

Nächste Frage: soll ich mir das E71 in „grey steel“ oder in „white steel“ ziehen?

Das White Steel, bis vor kurzem aufgrund geringer Stückzahl absolutes Luxusobjekt, ist nun erschwinglich geworden und kostet gerade mal noch fünf Euronen mehr als das grey steel.

Einzig: ich stehe vor dem Luxusproblem: ich kann mich nicht für eine Farbe entscheiden!
Mir gefallen beide außerordentlich gut, und da dieAusstattung unter der Haube ansonsten identisch ist, hängt es einzig von der Farbe ab.

Gebt mir einen Rat, liebe Leser! Weiss oder grau?

Ganz besonders plastisch wird dies in Blogs, welche mit Artikeln wie „Firma xxx, ihr seid ja so toll, aber…“ zugepflastert sind. Selbstbezogen, polemisch, rechthaberisch, plump. Das will ich nicht mehr lesen! Und ganz selbstkritisch nehme ich von solchen Monologen in Zukunft auch Abstand.
Und: recht haben sie, die Spiegel: gute politische Blogs auf deutsch sind Mangelware. Mit fällt da nur Netzpolitik.org ein. Mein Favorit!

Aber: machtlos?? Den Eindruck habe ich nicht- ich bin immer wieder verblüfft, wer hier alles mitliest. Keine Berufspolitiker, aber die Kommunikationsprofis privater Unternehmen. Und Bildblog- machtlos? Nein! Bildblog geniesst mittlerweile Kultstatus wie die „Zeitung mit den großen Buchstaben“ itself.
